THE UPBEATS
[BC Presents]
Since announcing their arrival on the drum-and-bass scene in 2004 — creating more of a shockwave than a mere splash — with their self-titled debut album, Wellington, New Zealand producers The Upbeats have continued to forge an impressive reputation as both masters of their craft and the future of drum¹n¹bass. In 2007, The Upbeats take a new step in their journey to the top of global dance music with the release of their sophomore album on prominent label Bad Company Presents and embarking on a world tour with BC stars Vegas and Maldini.

TECH ITCH
[Tech Itch Recordings]
Back in 1991, Mark Caro a.k.a. Tech Itch was based in Birmingham, DJing at local parties and starting out on the production trail with a very limited set up. It wasn’t too long before Mark had the desire to set up his own label, so he launched Tech Itch Recordings, which resulted in his stratospheric rise in the drum-and-bass world. Since then, Tech Itch has released over 50 projects on his own label, and earned a reputation as one of the world’s top drum-and-bass producers.

HIVE
[Violence Recordings]
Tough, propulsive, forged out of both the traditional sampled aesthetic and leading sound designs of contemporary drum and bass, the sound of Hive today bears the imprint of an artist searching for new ways to reinterpret the music by his own lights. Neither a retrospective purist, nor a follower of fashion, Hives music, his DJing, and his label strike a steely, inspiring balance, hewing closely to a tight creative vision that has propelled him into the forefront of drum-and-bass.

Technics 1200 RCA and ground wire MOD

For all of you DJs out there who haven’t done this MOD yet, I highly recommend you get it done. It’s very simple to do and it wouldn’t cost you much to make it happen. I know some who’ve spent ridiculous amounts of money of Monster Cable RCAs but bad news to those who did, there are better cables out there for WAAAAAY less. Anyway, check out this tutorial vid I found on YouTube. I’d say it’s the best one to watch and learn from. Check it:

Daedelus is one of my favorite artists right now. He specializes in experimental electronic music and is based out of Los Angeles, CA. He has tons of releases through labels such as Ninja Tune,Eastern Developments, and Stones Throw. His compositions consist of some of the craziest combinations of obscure intricately cut samples, effects, programmed beats, and loops. His music is truly unique. He currently uses a Monome 40h for his live performances. Only 400 hundred of these things were made. It’s basically a box with 64 buttons that act as midi triggers. Each button can be programmed to play a particular sound or groove. It’s pretty awesome. Just check out the video below. Definitely check him out.
