Here’s a track called Rock My Boat (Album) from the album Dumb Luck
by Los Angeles native James Scott Tamborello aka Dntel. He is known mostly for his work with The Postal Service, a collaboration between him and Ben Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie. His first full length entitled Life Is Full of Possibilities
was released in 2001 featuring several artists including Ben Gibbard, Mia Doi Todd, Meredith Figurine, Chris Gunst of Beachwood Sparks, Brian McMahan of Slint and The For Carnation, and Rachel Haden of That Dog. The track he did with Gibbard entitled (This Is) The Dream of Evan and Chan lead to the forming of Postal Service. He also worked on the track Take It Easy (Love Nothing) for Bright Eyes. Other side projects include a solo album under the alias Jimmy Figurine under which he released an album entitled Mistake Mistake Mistake Mistake
. He has also released an album with the band Figurine entitled The Heartfelt
. He is also currently hosting a show called Dying Songs for Dublab.
This track is highly intoxicating. It features the guitar and vocal stylings of Mia Doi Todd and as usual her voice is piercing yet quietly hypnotic. It’s a great mixture of live acoustic and Dntel’s signature electronics which creates such an interesting sound that you probably would have never imagined the two could possibly flow well together, but it does. THIS is truly a work of art.
