Will Samson – Balance
To say this is one of the most beautiful albums I’ve heard all year is an understatement. If I haven’t peaked your interest enough, just skip my commentary, take a listen and judge for yourself. Hunt me down on Facebook if you aren’t fully satisfied. The first track entitled Oceans Are Wilder sets the tone for the entire release, a set of intricately created recordings of downtempo experimental folk and lush atmospheric electronics. I can just feel all of the Youth Lagoon fans all jumping for joy simultaneously.
Clocking in at just 23 years old, Will Samson returns with a follow up to his first album Hello Friends with his new release entitled Balance. Gentle guitar melodies and sweeping angelic vocals enables each track to soar and effortlessly strike the perfect balance between musicality and technicality. A collection of carefully chosen recording equipment ranging from old vintage organs, tape delays, microphones and radios all contribute the warmth and inviting characteristic of analog, further enhancing the albums ability to melt your soul away. The album is due out on Oct. 5, 2012 on Karaoke Talk.
