Indie dream team Savoir Adore, is out with a new album, Our Nature on October 16. This new wave-inspired Brooklyn (shocking) twosome has released their newest single Regalia off the album. It is backed by tribal influenced beats and synthesized effects that prop this track up, pitting it against the peppiest of 80’s hits. To truly appreciate the authenticity of this Savoir Adore as an ’80s revival can we just take a moment to examine the media off prior album In the Wooded Forest? To say that Paul Hammer and Deidre Muro are paying homage to beloved John Hughes film, 16 Candles’ Sam and Jake sitting on the dining room table in the film’s final scene is um…a bit of an understatement? Purely coincidence you say. I mean, I can practically hear The Thompson Twins singing along to Regalia by the second verse; but I digress. It’s hard to resist a confection as sweet as Regalia that enables us to relive the abandon and delight of our childhood. What is it about the movie we watched 100 times over on sick days, the baseball cards we once collected, or the song we pretended we never cried to in braces that envelops us in sheer joy and has us searching for more? Nostalgia is strong; and it is somewhere between those cotton candy memories and our fond teenage dreams that Savoir Adore lives. They are the good times we grasp at in order to remember, and the delight we wish we had – and still hope to have. Perhaps it is for that reason, that Savoir Adore have found themselves not only the pride of the Williamsburg set, but a true ambassador of the late ’00s electro-indie music scene.
