Experimental recording artist Drew Bandos makes the move to full independence as he takes his project Is and of The from Mush Records into unfamiliar self-released territory with his latest full length album Know Not. He returns with a familiar blend of intricate acoustic melodies and delay heavy sounds mangled to perfection. This new album builds on the foundation set on his last outing Heads Phased For Dreamless Sleep but his productions have matured and it maintains an enduring cohesiveness throughout. The musical ideas brought to the table are more focused and welcoming and as things seem to get out of hand, Bandos brings you back to Earth with perfect soft landings such as the hypnotizing Swoopy with its wobbly dubstep-ish bass line glued to a backbone of timeless vocal samples. The tracks take on many genre influences as they weave through mind altering territory but all is not done just for the sake of doing so. The album captures a rare beauty and showcases an unrelenting focus on creativity and inventiveness. Tracks like In Sooth take you on trancelike journeys while others such as You Told Me You Could Swim Through the Waves and New What provide something to grab on to and remember. There is always something new and breathtaking waiting around the corner and it’s obvious that this was an album made out of love for the true music lover. The album is available now via Bandcamp and follows Radiohead’s foot steps with the name your own price model. Stream a preview below.
