Oren Lyons – Forever Found

Oren Lyons Oren Lyons Forever Found

Oren Lyons – not to be confused with your distant Israeli cousin coming to visit for the summer – the other Oren Lyons, is a recently assembled Los Angeles based rock outfit quickly turning heads. Their recent output Forever Found sets the scene with a macabrely beautiful orchestral intro that sounds as though it was pulled right out of a tragic 1940s flick; it then feeds into a lackadaisical rock-spun march. Formed just in January of this year, Oren Lyons is making an imprint on L.A.’s prominent indie oracle, Morning Becomes Eclectic. Clearly, a program fave, program host and Music Director Jason Bentley had Forever Found on “repeat” for a week. Admittedly that is where I first came across the sextet. Scanning the dial, I stopped, taken immediately by the deep, blustery voice of singer Kristianne Bautista. Like a Florence Welch meets Karen O. it was a siren difficult to ignore. So young, and such a patchwork of members and of musical styles, Oren Lyons has us sitting patiently to see what’s next.
