Since the release of the Billboard Top Electronic charting “Underground Communication,” Bassnectar has exploded – selling out 40-show tours and playing to thousands of people a week with barely a night off. Recent remixes from electronic / hip hop heavyweights Diplo, Z-Trip, and Ghislain Poirier and headlining status at festivals like Lollapalooza have helped grow Bassnectar’s already massive cult like fanbase.

The new album, “Cozza Frenzy” is an amalgamation of music that combines dubstep, electro, hip hop, and all styles of dirty digital bass-heavy music. A work 3 years in the making, this collection of songs is rich and eclectic. Genres are turned upside down, sliced into half time, and combined with one agenda: to delight your ears. While the live shows are explosive orgies of sound and light that literally turn into mosh pits, the album explores not only the frenzy but also the meltdown…lush, expressive melodies, and playful combinations of sound are just as much a trademark as the insane thickness and heaviness that pervades each song. It’s like a variety show: some freakish songs for those moments of complete abandon, and other more melodic moments for those moments when all you want to do is dissolve into thoughts.

You have to check out this track by Michna entitled Raw Paw straight from his new album Magic Monday. Michna aka Adrian Michna began his musical career in Miami where he co-founded Secret Frequency Crew which ushered in a new sound meshing together elements of hip hop and electronica together into one. He worked frequently with Diplo when he caught the attention of Sam Valenti IV, founder of record label Ghostly International. He’s currently working the NYC club scenes and definitely making a name for himself. URB included him in their “Next 100.” You definitely need to pick up his album. It’s a rarity to find an album where EVERY song just blows you away with it’s complexity, rhythm, space, movement, depth, and melody.
